Discover Shreveport Real Estate

Real estate in Shreveport covers a variety of property types, however the vast majority are single-family homes. The city comprises a variety of districts and neighborhoods, including some that feature historic homes, and each offer something a little bit different. As mentioned above, Shreveport offers what many cities do not: more affordable properties and square footage to match.

When it comes to homes for sale, the market encompasses a wide range of both styles and price points. Most commonly, the city houses charming bungalows across most neighborhoods. Broadmoor, for example, is Shreveport’s largest neighborhood, and is known for its established residential areas, whilst the Downtown district offers unparalleled convenience. While many of the homes have construction dates ranging from the 1950s to the 1980s, neighborhoods closer to the city center are where buyers can find historic homes.

Architecturally, homes in Shreveport are commonly built in a cozy, ranch style. This is characterized by low roofs, shuttered windows, and (often red) brick exteriors. These homes, while varying in size, often have multiple bedrooms and bathrooms, and make for a great option for families. Older homes have often kept their charming features, which can include original hardwood flooring, fireplaces, and wood doors and cabinetry. Price point is dependent on a number of factors, such as square footage, condition, and location, but as a city, these bungalows are quite affordable in comparison.

Fairfield, Highlands, and South Highlands are the popular historic districts in Shreveport. Homes for sale in these neighborhoods have often been preserved, and include Colonial, Craftsman, and even Queen Anne styles—although the last one is quite rare. Typically, these homes start at much higher, luxury price points, but they also provide exceptional and desirable locations close to the downtown core.
