Fairfield, Highlands, and South Highlands are the popular historic districts in Shreveport. Homes for sale in these neighborhoods have often been preserved, and include Colonial, Craftsman, and even Queen Anne styles—although the last one is quite rare. Typically, these homes start at much higher, luxury price points, but they also provide exceptional and desirable locations close to the downtown core.

In fact, the city is well-known for its film industry, with numerous productions having been filmed here. The city also hosts annual events, including the Red River Revel (an arts festival held each autumn), the Highland Jazz & Blues Festival, and Mardi Gras.
